Situated between the St John's Campus and the City Campus, the Severn Campus is home to the University Arena, the Riverside building and The Garage art studios.

By Foot

The Severn Campus is just a 10-minute walk from either the St John's or City Campus. If arriving by train the Severn Campus is a 15-minute walk from Worcester Foregate Street Station. To help find your way you can download a directional map and a campus map.

By Bicycle

The Severn Campus is easily reached by local and national cycle routes and has many cycle parking facilities on campus. Use the cycle route journey planner to help work out your route.

There are Sheffield-type hoop cycle parking facilities to lock your bike to on campus. Showers and lockers are available at all campuses.

Please see our Facilities for Cyclists campus map to see all cycle parking locations. On this map the location and opening hours of the bike shop can also be found. Students and staff can apply for secure cycle storage.

Cycle to Work Scheme

The cycle to work scheme is open to all University employees, on one year or longer contracts, providing a tax exemption to staff for the hire of cycles and cyclist safety equipment, up to the value of £2,000 and includes electric bikes (e-bikes). For further details please see the Cycle2Work Guidance  or contact HR@worc.ac.uk .

By Car

Worcester is served by the M5 motorway and is accessible from Junctions 6 and 7. Under normal traffic conditions all University campuses can be reached in 15-20 minutes from Junction 7. The University is clearly signposted once you come off at Junction 7.

Car Parking

There is a drop off zone and disabled parking spaces on site, there are limited parking spaces for visitors. The Severn Campus is also very close to several council run car parks ranging from 60p-90p per hour depending on which car park you use.

For events in the evening, weekends and vacations there is good parking available at St John’s Campus but in semester time these can be congested. Car Park charges apply on a Pay & Display basis.

If you have pre-bought parking tickets, please proceed directly to the Arena (postcode for sat-navs is WR2 5JN) - the car park is located directly behind the arena (please do not follow the AA Road Signs for parking in city centre car parks)

By Rail

Worcester is served by two train stations:

Worcester Foregate Street – is a 15-minute walk from the Severn Campus.
Worcester Shrub Hill - is a 25-minute walk from the Severn Campus or 10-minutes by taxi.

Bristol Temple Meads - 1 hour 20 minutes

Cardiff Central - 1 hour 50 minutes

Exeter Central - 3 hours 25 minutes

London Paddington - 2 hours 20 minutes

By Bus

The numbers 31 operated by First travel connect the St John's Campus to the City Centre Bus Station and City Campus. The bus stops are located outside on St Johns Campus outside the Students' Union building and near Severn gate.  The First bus 31 service runs from Worcester bus station to St Johns Campus between 07:10 and 18.35 Monday to Friday.  31 Bus timetable information

Promotional tickets

Two special tickets are available exclusively for University of Worcester students and staff;

  • The 10 Journey tickets allow travel on any First bus service in the Worcester City area for £7.50.  The 10 journey special is only available as an mTicket purchased through First bus app and requires a University of Worcester email address.
  • FirstSemester tickets allow unlimited travel on all First local bus services in the Worcester City.  Semester tickets cost £115 and can be purchased via the First Bus App.

First Bus promotions

Academic year-long bus tickets for staff and students' are valid on all First Bus Worcester City services cost £115 and 10 journey e-tickets for just £7.50 are available and are valid for 12 months. You can buy these bus tickets online on the First Bus Worcestershire pages.

Please note: students and staff will now be able to purchase extended academic year prorata'd tickets for £115 from the First Bus app. Please see the details of this promotion:

  • Standard academic year ticket – start 16th September – end 29th May 
  • Extended year option 1 – start 2nd September –  end 10th July
  • Extended year ticket option 2 2nd September – end 31st July
